Aleris Recognized with Supplier Award from Airbus
Aleris was recently recognized with the accredited supplier award by Airbus at their Supply Chain and Quality Improvement Program (SQIP) event in Toulouse.
The European aircraft manufacturer works with more than 12,000 suppliers worldwide. In order to assure the quality and performance of companies and subcontractors that form part of the supply chain, Airbus introduced SQIP in 2012 to advance selected major suppliers toward the goal of industrial excellence.
As a global leader in aluminum rolled products, Aleris was acknowledged with the award in the Accredited Supplier category, which is the one with the maximum level of requirements.
Aleris’ performance and continuous improvement has been honored since 2013 starting with an Honorable Mention and followed by the Best Performer Award for 2015 and 2016. “We are proud to have achieved the status of Accredited Supplier for 2017, the highest distinction. We will also work even harder now to maintain this level of performance,” says Dr. Ingo Kröpfl, Aleris vice president Global Aerospace.
Aleris supplies plates, sheets and cut shapes made of certified aluminum alloys, which are then used to make components for Airbus. The Accredited Supplier award also recognizes the successful ramp-up of Aleris’ manufacturing plant in Zhenjiang, China. This facility assures operational reliability for Airbus in the Asia-Pacific region.
