Acrylic Coating/Polyester Coating Systems
Aleris acrylic and polyester coating systems are two of our most versatile options. Both of these paint systems can be applied directly over various aluminum alloys, in either one or two coats and are ideal for both interior and exterior use.

Antimicrobial Coating
Aleris’ antimicrobial coating built-in protection that inhibits the growth of microorganisms, such as bacteria, mold and mildew that cause odors, stains or product degradation on the applied coating. Multiple systems are available with our antimicrobial coatings and there are no restrictions on color.

Bondable Coating
Here, a chemically cleaned and pretreated aluminum substrate gets a special bondable coating to ensure that adhesives will stick to it. Our bondable coating has been specially formulated and tested to achieve maximum adhesion, the desired physical properties and compatibility with a wide variety of adhesives. Aleris’ bondable coating choices include two-part epoxy and moisture-cured isocyanate adhesives.

Textured Coatings
Textured coatings are specially formulated coatings designed to provide long-life durability. They are excellent choices for products requiring non-uniform or irregular surface appearances, such as embossed, non-skid, rough or porous finishes. Textured finishes can be used in nearly any market and are ideal for applications that would benefit from enhanced appearance and scuff-resistance.

Pre-Coated Aluminum Solutions
Aleris offers one of the broadest ranges of pre-coated solutions, with extensive coating options, color expertise and application versatility. Our pre-coated experts deliver virtually any color finish required. Aleris can pre-coat heavy gauge aluminum up to .160 inches (4.064 mm) thick and 60 inches (1.524 m) wide with any premium paint solution. And we support multiple coating systems for various end-use applications.
Aleris offers a complete range of coil coating capabilities:
- .012 inch to .160 inch (3.048 mm to 4.064 mm) thick in aluminum substrate
- 10 to 62 inches (25.4 mm to 1.5748 m) wide; heavy gauge available up to 60 inches (1.524 m) wide
- Slit width capability as narrow as 1.0 inch (2.54 mm)

Two-Coat Paint Systems
A two-coat paint system generally includes a pretreatment, followed by a primer and a topcoat on the same side of the sheet.

Road Shield® and Ultra Road Shield® Coating System
Aleris Road Shield® and Ultra Road Shield® products were specifically designed for trailer side sheet applications that demand a durable exterior-grade, acrylic-coated aluminum product. These coatings balance exterior durability, exceptional adhesion, high resistance to metal marking, stain resistance and ease of cleaning. Road Shield® is a single-coat acrylic paint system, while Ultra Road Shield® is a two-coat acrylic paint system. Both products are available in virtually any color as a high-gloss finish.
American Society for Testing & Materials (ASTM) accelerated weathering testing proves that Ultra Road Shield®:
- Helps vehicles look better
- Enhances corrosion resistance
- Reduces the effects of humidity
