Committed to Health, Safety and the Environment

Aleris International, Inc. conducts its worldwide operations and business activities in a manner that protects its employees, protects its communities, and respects the environment.  We dedicate resources -- both financial and people -- to continually improve our operations and practices so that we may better:

  • Prevent workplace accidents and injuries
  • Make efficient use of energy and natural resources
  • Focus on pollution prevention

Our Health, Safety, and Environmental Policy reflects these goals and the value we place on achieving them.  Please click here for a PDF copy of our Policy. The HSE Policy is also available in Dutch, German, French, Portuguese, and Spanish.

Measured Performance

Safety Improvements

The keys to meeting these and other Aleris commitments are the dedication of the company’s management, along with employee involvement, in leading these efforts.  We are proud of our employees and their focus on improving and maintaining a safe work environment. Through their efforts, our Company’s average recordable and lost time injuries have been reduced by 71 percent and 68 percent, respectively.

Energy Reduction

Conserving energy benefits Aleris, our customers and the environment.  Providing metal to our customers in molten form reduces the amount of energy required to re-melt metal.  Additionally, improving energy efficiency allows Aleris to reduce consumption of natural resources, which reduces our costs.  Since 2004, we have reduced natural gas consumption by more than 7 percent.
