Reducing the Amount of Energy Used

In addition to its commitment to recycling, Aleris has implemented a significant global energy program dedicated to the efficient use and reduction of natural gas and electricity throughout its operations.  This focused effort is yielding significant results.

The Company’s natural gas usage has been reduced consistently since the program began in 2004. This reduction alone has avoided more than 400,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

In addition, Aleris has dedicated resources to investigate and implement new energy initiatives that foster improved efficiency, meet our customers’ demands, and ultimately reduce emissions and discharges to the environment.
